Pat Burrell should be benched for the remainder of the year and the Phils should let David Delucci and/or Shane Victorino play every day. Burrell is a liability in the field and his productivity at the plate is way down.
I believe the Phillies want to justify his big fat contract he signed in 2004 worth over $50 million. Over the next 2 years, he is owed $27 million (2007- $13M and in 2008- $14M).
Charlie Manual needs to show his backbone on this one and use Burrell as a pinch hitter going forward. Delucci and Victorino have both earned playing time.
