When most baseball "experts" wrote the Philadelphia off, it looks like the Phillies just may be on an improbable run towards the National League Wild Card.
After dumping Bobby Abreu, Cory Lidle, David Bell and Rheal Cormier last week, the Phillies have put together a nice run of wins. An unexpected sweep in St. Louis has me believing they are legitimate N.L. Wild Card contenders.
David Delucci, Chris Coste and Shane Victorino have all shown they can play in the majors and may soon have Philadelphia fans back on the playoff band wagon !
Notes :
1) Charlie Manual has to sit Mike Lieberthal and play Chris Coste everyday. Lieberthal's easy going approach to the game is getting old and Coste simply is a better player than him now.
2) Keep Pat Burrell on the bench as a pinch hitter. Continue to play Delucci and Victorino.
3) Hamels, Meyers, Lieber and Wolf are a nice rotation now.
