Houston Rocket's center, Yao Ming broke his size 18 foot and will be out for the remainder of the 2008 NBA season. This basically wipes out any chance the Rockets had of advancing in the NBA playoffs. Houston has won 12 straight games and during that stretch the Great Wall of Yao has averaged 21 ppg and close to 12 rebounds. Without Ming, I'd predict the Rockets will fall out of the playoff picture (they currently are 36-20 and sitting in the 7th slot in the Western Conference).
Chairman Yao will be out 4 months and he desparately wants to be ready for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Bejing. The Republic of China is counting on him !
The Rockets will now have to turn to 57 year-old Dikembe Mutombo as their starting center. Mutumbo has averaged less than 8 minutes a game this year.
Put a fork in the Houston Rockets, they're done !
