Spring Training Records - Are they Important ?

Some people feel Spring Training records mean nothing. If that is the case, Philadelphia fans should breath a sigh of relief because the Phillies have been simply awful this Spring. Their starting pitching has been terrible and their bats have been anemic.

The National League MVP, Jimmy Rollins is barely hitting his weight and starters Kyle Kendrick and Adam Eaton's ERA's are well into the double digits.

Manager Charlie Manual is concerned enough to voice his displeasure to the team, calling them complacent. I am hoping that the Phillies will break out of this funk right around the last week of Spring Training and get off to a fast and furious start to the season.

The previous years, the Phillies have put themselves in an early hole by having losing records in April.

Don't make plans to jump off the Walt Whitman Bridge yet, but keep a life preserver handy just in case.
