Phils grab Lee ; Pass on Halladay

The Phillies opted out of the Roy Halladay sweepstakes and traded for reigning A.L. Cy Young winner, Cliff Lee. Not a bad deal at all. I have to applaud Ruben Amaro for making a quick adjustment to get a front line starter.

The Lee deal should now put the Phillies as the favorite to win the N.L. East, for sure, and most likely edging out the Dodgers as favorites to win the N.L. Pennant.

The Phils rotation is now stacked with quality lefthanders (Hamels, Moyer, Happ and Lee). Throw in Joe Blanton and Pedro Martinez, the team now has some nice options.

Kudos to the Phillies general management for not standing pat. Even thought the Phils are up 7 games in the N.L. East, they weren't satisfied and improved the squad even more.

Halladay is better. Lee is a one year wonder.
