C'mon Charlie, it's time for another Closer

Brad Lidge blew his lead leading 9th save last night as the Phillies dropped a heart breaker to the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates. Lidge gave up 3 runs and did not get a batter out in the 9th inning.

Lidge's 2009 performance has simply been awful. His ERA is the highest among all closers and his 9 blown saves is the most in the majors also. The Phillies can not go into post season with Lidge as the closer. With 35 games left in the season, it's time to make the change now. It will give the team a chance to adjust their bullpen sequence prior to the playoffs.

Manual's loyalty may come back to bite him. Due to Lidge's perfect season last year, Charlie has been very loyal to Brad. He absolutely knows that Lidge doesn't have it this year. Since opening day, Lidge has struggled and this simply isn't his year.

Shut Lidge down now before it's too late. This team is too good to be hamstrung by a closer that isn't dependable.
