University of Oregon tailback, Legarrette Blount, punched his future away Thursday night after his team was embarrassed by Boise State. Blount, who came into this season as Oregon's top running back was trash talking all week about how the Ducks will be giving Boise State an "azz whuppin".
During the game, Blount rushed for -5 yards on 12 carries, as Boise State ripped the Ducks 19-8.
In front of a nationally televised audience, Blount sucker punched Boise's Byron Hout. He then proceeded to punch a teammate and start his way up into the stands to fight Boise State fans.
Those actions sealed his fate as the University of Oregon suspended him for the rest of the season, wiping out his senior year.
Coach Skip Kelly said, "I love LeGarrette Blount," after announcing Blount's punishment, which keeps him from playing in any games but does allow him to stay with the team. "LeGarrette Blount needs this football program, he needs structure. He understands that he made a mistake, and that he needs to pay for that mistake. But we're not going to throw LeGarrette Blount out on the street."
Coach, here's a news flash.....Blount seriously damaged the University of Oregon football program and also scarred the University's reputation. His actions dictate complete dismissal from the team. No need to be a hero and be sympathetic. This wasn't Blount's first disciplinary action from the Duck's coach. I guess at Oregon you get 3 strikes.
Blount was projected to be an NFL 2nd or 3rd rounder in next years NFL Draft. After Thursday night, few NFL teams will consider him. Oh...except for maybe the Cowboys !
