Cheeks is a Scapegoat for Underachieving 76ers

Mo Cheeks was fired today as head basketball coach for the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers, who are 9-14 so far this year have been disappointing to say the least. The back to back losses to the Cavs sealed Cheeks' fate.

In the NBA when a team underachieves, the coach is fired, when in reality the players should take the blame for the poor performance.

Andre Iguodala and Sam Dalembert, who both make $11 million a year have been simply awful this year. The addition of Elton Brand this season should have propelled the Sixers into the upper echelon of the NBA Eastern Conference, but so far to date, the team isn't close to being a playoff team.

Maurice Cheeks will always be a hero in this town. As part of the 1983 Championship team, he is forever immortalized here in Philadelphia.

Good luck, Mo, I'm sure you'll end up on yor feet. Too bad, we can't fire players like we can coaches !
