Howard Had a Terrific Year in 2009

Ryan Howard will most likely finish second in the National League MVP race to Albert Pujols of the Cardinals, but nonetheless, he had a terrific year. Howard was healthy the entire season and will have the most At Bats (AB) in any of his 5 major league seasons. His batting average improved 30 points over last season and his defense has improved dramatically also.

With one game remaining, Howard has 45 Homers and 140 RBIs, which for most major leaguers is a monster year. However, Howard has averaged 49 home runs and 142 RBIs over the past 4 seasons, so many people take him for granted.

Even though Jayson Werth and Raul Ibanez had career years, Howard is the 2009 Phillies MVP. His consistency this season has been outstanding.
