Phillies re-sign Brett Myers - Great Move !

The re-signing of Brett Myers by the Phillies was an outstanding move. The Phils are beginning to develop a soild nucleus of young players for the future. Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins are both signed until 2010 and beyond. Myers, who is only 26 has yet to reach his peak potential.

Myers is part of a solid starting five, perhaps the best in the N.L. East. (Definitely better than those NY Mets). The Phillies actually have additional depth in their starting rotation which will allow them to trade a starter for some much needed bullpen help. (Jon Lieber seems to be the odd man out).

Myers, Hamels, Moyer, Garcia and Eaton are solid starters. Myers and Hamels could be the next great power pitching duo from the National League, since the Arizona Diamondbacks of the late '90s with Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling.
