The Dayton Flyers had defeated the LaSalle Explorers 12 of the last 13 meetings. St. Joseph's had won 8 straight against LaSalle. This past week, LaSalle broke through and beat both of these Atlantic 10 powerhouse teams, staging huge second half comebacks.
The young Explorer team showed poise under pressure and is rising quickly in the Atlantic 10 standings.
Down by 12 in the 2nd half against the Flyers, LaSalle clawed back and forced overtime thanks to a 3 pointer from Sherman Diaz in regulation. In overtime, after trailing by 5 points with 50 seconds left, the Explorers scored the last 8 points in overtime to seal the 81-78 victory.
Darnell Harris, the lone Senior contributor on this young team scored 26 points (including eight 3 pointers) and has taken this team on his back the past 2 games. LaSalle is primed to make a very unexpected run in the Atlantic 10 tournament next month.
Five games left in the regular season, LaSalle can make a statement by keeping this winning streak alive.
