The Phils will have to let Jamie Moyer go

The Phillies need to make a hard decision shortly regarding their starting rotation. Now that Pedro Martinez is ready to make his Phillies debut, the team can't keep 6 starters. The odd man out right now has to be Jamie Moyer. Despite leading the team in wins (10), his 5.55 ERA can not be ignored. As of now, there is no way, the Phillies would use him as a starter in the playoffs.

Since Cliff Lee has emerged as the ace of the staff, the Phils starting 5 has to be : Lee, Cole Hamels, Joe Blanton, J.A. Happ and Pedro.

I believe the Phils have 3 options for Moyer. (1) Trade him (if he clears waivers) to the Yankees. New York is in need a 5th starter and Moyer has a proven A.L. track record. (2) Put him on the 15 day D.L. If Pedro or one of the other starters falters, bring him back into the rotation. Finally, (3), the bullpen.
