It's Bert Blyleven's time to be elected to Baseball's Hall of Fame

Roberto Alomar, famous for spitting into an umpire's face, should be inducted as a member of Baseball's Hall of Fame today. During the 1990's, Alomar was the games best second baseman. He was a lifetime .300 hitter and amassed over 2700 hits. He also won 10 gold gloves.

Barry Larkin could also be elected. All Star voting seems to favor players who were the best at their position during a particular time period. In the late 80's and eraly '90's, Larkin was the N.L.'s best shortstop. His stats are pretty good, but in my opinion, fall short of Hall of Fame consideration. He was a lifetime .295 hitter with 2300 hits. He was NL MVP in 1995, beating out steroid kings such as Dante Bichette and Sammy Sosa for the award. He'll probably get in, but only because there is little or no competition this year.

Andre Dawson (The Hawk) should have a realistic chance this year to make it. He is one of only a handful of players who have hit 400 home runs and stolen 300 bases. Dawson won 10 gold gloves and was known for his cannon arm in right field. I hope he makes it.....he should

The one guy who probably deserves to enter the hall before Alomar and Larkin is Bert Blyleven. He pitched for 22 years and amassed 287 wins, which is more than Bob Gibson, Bob Feller, Juan Marichal and Jim Bunning, all Hall members.

Blyleven is 5th all time in strikeouts with 3701. Only Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemons, Randy Johnson and Steve Carlton have more.

This year's class is mediocre by Hall of Fame standards. I wonder if anyone will vote for Mark McGwire ? He's 8th all time in Home Runs with 583. Of course, he had a little help from the needle on some of those !

Did you know Blyleven won 13 1-0 games, more than anyone other than Walter Johnson and Grover Cleveland Alexander? I agree with you on him!
